RELIEF FOR HUMAN SUFFERING FOUNDATION STRENGTHENS ITS MISSION OUTREACH WITH NEW BOARD MEMBER

Ranjani Manjunath Durham Joins Board Alongside Other Seasoned Business/Healthcare Professionals

2022 continues proving to be a pivotal year for the Relief for Human Suffering Foundation (R4HS Foundation). The nonprofit organization welcomes its newest board member, Ranjani Durham, to the board. Durham becomes the third board member to join R4HS Foundation in 2022.

The nonprofit organization, which strives to treat avoidable blindness and provide the Gift of Sight to underserved individuals in low and middle-income countries (LMIC), can leverage Durham’s experience and knowledge as a healthcare business executive to help continue moving the organization forward and further strengthen the ability of the foundation to meet its mission.

“It has been an exciting opportunity for us to bring on so many experienced healthcare professionals into our nonprofit world,” said Benson Fayehun, founder and president of R4HS Foundation.

“Ranjani and I have worked together in previous professional roles, so I’ve seen her work ethic, determination, and care for the global community first-hand. It’s an exciting chance for us to work together again in a different capacity, but to also incorporate her into the things the entire team is working on to ensure we’re on a steady path towards making a difference in the world,” Fayehun continued.

Currently, Durham holds the position of head value strategy at AstraZeneca. In addition to her leadership role, she also is a member at Chief, an organization designed for the most powerful women in executive leadership to strengthen their leadership, magnify their influence, and pave the way to bring others with them. Prior to her current roles, Durham held positions at UCB and GSK (formerly GlaxoSmithKline), among others.

“I am very energized to join the Relief for Human Suffering Foundation due to the critical mission to treat avoidable blindness in the developing world. In addition to the mission, I trust the approach of R4HSF because I know Benson and his business acumen, moral compass, and ownership in making the world a better place. I am greatly looking forward to contributing to R4HSF and helping people in the developing world gain the Gift of Sight,” said Durham.

Durham received an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Durham was appointed to the R4HS Foundation board of directors on October 5, 2022. She will serve on the board for two years and will be eligible for re-appointment in 2024. For more information about Durham or R4HS Foundation, please visit https://r4hsfoundation.org.

About Relief for Human Suffering Foundation

Relief for Human Suffering Foundation is a non-profit – 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to restore the gift of sight and relieve the suffering from easily treated medical conditions for people in low and middle-income countries. Relief for Human Suffering Foundation is obsessed with creating a world where a person’s ability to enjoy the gift of sight is not dependent on the location of their birth or the color of their skin. The foundation partners with trusted local organizations with similar missions in addition to logistics and medical expertise to deliver care to impoverished people wherever it is needed. Where feasible, the organization connects beneficiaries with resources to help put them on a path to self-reliance. As a volunteer-run organization, 100% of public funding goes into the organization’s cause directly. Through negotiated discounted rates with partners in countries where they operate, Relief for Human Suffering Foundation is currently working to address visual impairments for 6,000 impoverished individuals in Africa by the end of 2022.

For as little as $20, you can help provide prescription eyewear to one person in need, and for as little as $80, you can enable cataract surgery for one person in one eye.
